When Did You See Her Last? By Lemony Snicket

The second book in the "All The Wrong Questions" Series, "When Did You See Her Last?" is just as captivating as the previous book in the series, "Who Could that Be at This Hour?". It continues the adventures of Lemony Snicket and his associates as they try to figure out what Hangfire is dong and preventing him from doing it.

 In the small, mostly abandoned town of Stain'd by the Sea, when the daughter of Doretta and Ignatius Knight, Cleo has vanished, and no one can find her, Lemony Snicket and S. Theodora Markson are brought to investigate. When they arrive at the Knight's, Lemony finds that the Knights have been drugged by their apothecary, but Theodora thinks noting of it. Because of a a grocery store owner (who's eyesight leaves a lot to be desired) telling them she heard Cleo she say was running away to a circus, Theodora stops investigating, claiming that they don't need to look any further into the case, because they know what has happened, but Lemony investigates further, eventually leading him and his associates to an abandoned clinic where one thing leads to another and one of Lemony's associates, Jake Hix, Cleo's boyfriend, crashes a car into the wall of the clinic, and they save Cleo, who was trapped in the basement. 

This book reminds me of Lemony Snicket's other series, "A Series of Unfortunate Events" because it has a similar writing style (obviously) and it is also very mysterious as in you know very little of the villain and what he is capable of. In both series the villain occasionally shows himself, but more often than not has many people helping him. The main characters' friends/associates also share similarities, as they are very good at certain things, even though they may not be the most useful in the situations they find themselves and their friends in. In "When Did You See Her Last?", Cleo Knight is very good with chemistry, and is developing an invisible ink that works 100% of the time, and Jake Hix is an amazing chef who works at his aunt's diner and gives his friends free meals. in "The Austere Academy", Duncan Quagmire is young journalist, and his sister, Isadora Quagmire, who is a very good poet. 

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a good mystery, because it is full of suspense and the author does a really good job of keeping lots of information from the reader.
