The book I read called The Heir, by Kiera Cass was a good book. It is about a bratty 18 year old girl named Princess Eadlyn. When her country is in trouble of tearing its self apart, the princess has to become the distraction and have a selection. A selection (held in the palace) is where men from everywhere in the country have the opportunity to put their name and place in a lottery. The king will choose a certain amount of men from a lottery to compete against the other selection members for princess Eadlyn. the princess, however, doesn't want a man in her life, and wants to watch the men squirm under her control. She finds out that not all of the men in the selection are bad. Others, however, tried to hurt her and got eliminated with warning that they could be caned (whipped) or killed. The princess finds some of the men very nice and it is hard to eliminate them. she doesn't want to seem weak and give in to any men, but she finds it hard to eliminate the men that have proven themselves friendly and innocent.
This book reminds me of real life. In the book, Eadlyn has to sacrifice her marriage for the good of the country. Sure, people in real life don't have to sacrifice their marriage, but they do have to sacrifice other things.
I recommend this book to whoever likes Y.A. fiction romance novels. It is a good book in general, and I like the mysterious, romantic, stressful vibe to the book.
