Prodigy by Marie Lu *SPOILERS*
*WARNING SPOILERS!!!!!!*
Prodigy by Marie Lu is the second book in a trilogy after the book Legend. The story takes place in the U.S but in the future where the country splits into two sides: the Republic and the Colonies who are at war. A main character, June is a Republic soldier who captured Day, the most wanted criminal in the Republic and who June thinks killed her brother. This was one of the reasons why she was assigned the mission and why she was so determined to find Day. While Day was in a Republic Prison being questioned and waiting to be executed Day tells June he stabbed her brother, Metias in a non-lethal spot and it was not him who murdered Metias. Then June investigated and looked at all the files on the murder case for her brother and finds out the Republic is hiding something from her and Day couldn't have killed her brother. Then with June knowing Day is innocent and the Republic is holding a big secret from her she decides to escape with Day with the help of the Patriots ( A small army sponsored by the Colonies) and get as far as they can from the Republic. Then after Day and June talk, they both decide to join the Patriots in Las Vegas. When they join the Patriots they are immediately recognized and told that there is going to be an assassination plot to kill the Republic's leader, Elector Primo and they are playing main roles. Day will personally kill the new elector and June will lure him into the assassination. Then June is intentionally captured by Republic soldiers and asks to speak with the elector to warn him about a fake assassination plot, but in the process finds out that the elector is trying to change the Republic and wishes to improve the way things are in the Republic. Then June isn't so sure about helping kill the elector and trying to signal Day to do the same.
I connect this book to a book called Young Elites by Marie Lu because it is written kind of the same way and they just remind me of each other in general. I also connect it to this book because they
both a have a little action and they both make you wonder what will happen next.I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, action, adventure, or suspense. I think it is also a good book in general because it still has a little bit of everything and I think most people could enjoy this book
