The third installment in the "All The Wrong Questions" series by Lemony Snicket continues the mysterious (and untrue) story of Lemony Snicket's stay in Stain'd By The Sea. With the series continuing, Lemony and his associates come closer to stopping Hangfire from getting the Bombinating Beast statue.
The sub- librarian of Stain'd by the Sea, Dashiel Qwerty, gets framed for arson by a fake department of education and is sent to jail, Lemony Snicket finds it very suspicious, but Theodora dismisses it. The town's only school, Stain'd Secondary School, gets burned to the ground, and no one is blamed. A fake "Department of Truancy" goes around kidnapping kids and bringing them to the once "top drawer" school of Wade Academy that has been filled with Laudanum laced air and run by the evil Hangfire. Snicket and his friends escape, but can't stop one of Hangfire's cronies from destroying the town's only library.
This book reminds me of "The Bad Beginning" from Lemony Snicket's other series, "A Series of Unfortunate Events" because it has a similar writing style (obviously). It also contains arson that was planned so certain children would be legally obligated to go somewhere by a villain. Both also end with a cliffhanger, and not everything is okay.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes fast paced mysteries. This book feels much longer than the other books in the series, but I definitely recommend it. Also, I'd recommend this series to anyone who liked the "A Series of Unfortunate Events, as the story and writing style are similar.
