        Marzi is the tale of a girl born in 1979 during the time of communism in Poland, written by Marzena  Sowa. Through out the book Sowa recalls certain memories from her childhood. Sowa lived through communism, a war and multiple near death experiences. However, she still shows how she was a normal kid despite this, who loved to explore, play and sometimes be mischievous. She mentions her strict parents and sometimes not so loyal friends as well. It is very clear that Sowa went through a lot as a child but as she shows she still managed to have some enjoyable experiences and play. Marzi is a very interesting book because it shows a childhood unlike many others portrayed in the media. Sowa lived through ten years of communism but then went to live afterwards in a changed society.
    Marzi is such an interesting book because it shows a perspective that is not portrayed in many other books. It is an honest book and does not hide things from the reader. Sowa admits that yes there was war, fighting and that not everything or every place is perfect. Marzi talks openly about issues in the world. She shares a childhood unlike others and teaches the reader to be appreciative of what they have. Marzi is a moving tale, of someone making the most and still living through a hard time.
