Monster by Walter Dean Myers

              I read Monster by Walter Dean Myers, a book about a boy named Steve Harmon who was imprisoned for helping in the killing of a man in his neighborhood. Harmon is a young boy, and the book is him writing a movie script about his own prison life. The book is moving, and portrays the long legal battle to prove him innocent. He is on trial with accomplice James King. His lawyer is Kathy O'Brien.
             This book is not similar to real life events. It is a real life event, a fictional one, but identical to many stories happening at this moment. Young kids on trial, for an act they did not commit, or weren't directly involved in. It ruined Steve Harmon's childhood partially, and does the same to many kids. I recommend this to anyone who loves realistic fiction, and won't think a script with courtroom talk is dull. This book is a real portrayal or life for others, and that has to be kept in mind when you read this book. :)
