Me and Earl and the dying girl is a book about a boy named Gregory Gaines, his best friend Earl Jackson and they're new friend Rachel Kushner who has leukemia. In the first couple chapters of the book Greg explained how horrible his life was when he was in middle school, how the social hierarchy at his high school is totally messed up, how he can't get a girl friend and he explain's his relationship with Rachel and his friend Earl and their films. Throughout the rest of the book Greg talks about the beginnings of his senior year at his high school like how once Greg starts to hang out with Rachel his social status changes for the worse and ruins his reputation sort of with the goth group, and Rachel's status of getting sicker and sicker till she finally gives up and stops chemo. Once she gives up it causes her to get pneumonia and die.
this book reminds me of the fault in our stars except it is not a love story and they both characters don't connect on a deep level or go to the same school. I would recommend this book to someone who likes humorous realistic fiction. This book is kind of serious and sweet at the same time while also being witty and stupid.
