Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson is a fictional fantasy book about a boy named Jess that lives in a small quite town. He wishes to have some excitement in his bland and boring life, as he also wishes for things to get better in his life. He's tired of being bullied, and he's tired of having his parents fighting all the time. But things start to change for he him the day a new girl named Leslie comes to his school. She makes an instant mark on Jess after she beats him in a race. He doesn't like her very much at first but with her house being down the street from his they do spend more time together and eventually become friends. One day Leslie and Jess race down a path near both of their homes to discover a wide woods that they explore and decide to call there own. They start to image that they are the king and queen of the woods and they name it Terabithia. For days they go t the woods after school and image them fighting off monsters to protect their citizens of Terabithia. One day Jess finds out that Leslie de tying to get into the woods when he wasn't there. He falls into a depression feeling as if it was his fault that his friend had passed away. But with help from his sister he comes to accept that there was nothing he could to, to have stop Leslie from passing. I think that this book is great about teaching kids about acceptance , and coming to terms with things that they cant control.
