Amulet Firelight- Book Seven by Kazu Kibuishi
The Amulet series is a– so far – seven book series, and this is the seventh. The Amulet Series, written and illustrated by Kazu Kibuishi, is about a girl named Emily who over the course of seven books has gone from normal girl to a girl who controls a magical amulet (a stone keeper) and attempts to save another world. In this book, Emily and the elf Trellis, and another stonekeeper named Vigo, attempt to search into Trellis's memory. Because only inside Trellis's memory can they discover secrets about his father, the Elf King. The Elf King who has turned mad, controlled by the amulet. This twisting plot is about the hard and excruciating journey towards an abandoned place under the sea, where stolen memories are stored by Gabilan. Another elf, who flashes from the side of the elf king to Emily's. Emily and Trellis enter the memory, and chaos, painful memories, and more lead to hardships. Up to the point where Emily is losing control over her amulet.
This book is similar to other fantasy plots, because of the way the story is set up. The character has a normal life, has a loss, the death of a family member here, and is set on an adventure because of an ability. Which is the amulet in this story. Essentially, it follows a classic Hero's journey storyline. I would recommend this to a graphic novel lover who will easily get wrapped up in a series, and stick with it. You need to be able to understand a very long plot. It has lots of adventure, not much horror, mystery, romance, and has a mediocre amount of fantasy in it.
